Annotation:
The relevance of the topic is determined by the growing demands placed on the quality of medical education, the professionalism of academic and teaching staff, academic integrity, ethical responsibility, the culture of professional communication, and institutional reputation. This issue becomes especially significant in the post-pandemic period and under the conditions of full-scale war, which further complicate the educational process. The article reveals the essence of pedagogical culture and the professional image of an academic and teaching staff member of a higher medical education institution in Ukraine under martial law and demonstrates their influence on the quality of education and the professional development of learners. The study is based on Ukrainian regulatory and legal acts, documents on medical ethics, international standards, scientific and practical literature, and open-access Internet sources; the methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, and content analysis were applied. Pedagogical culture is defined as the internal foundation of the professional activity of an academic and teaching staff member, whereas professional image is interpreted as its external manifestation; their interrelation is substantiated. The visual, communicative, ethical, pedagogical, clinical, scientific, digital, and civic-patriotic types of professional image are distinguished. It is proved that the significance of pedagogical culture and the professional image of academic and teaching staff extends beyond the university, since it influences the formation of the professional image of a higher medical education student, an intern doctor, a resident doctor, and a practicing physician, as well as the institutional image of a higher medical education institution, a research and training institute of postgraduate education, a medical institution, and the reputational image of Ukrainian medicine. The practical significance of the article lies in proposing recommendations for improving professional communication, mentoring, behavioural culture, and sustaining a positive institutional brand of a higher medical education institution.
