Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy

The journal “Bulletin of Problems in Biology and Medicine” ensures the long-term preservation, archiving, and open access to all published materials in accordance with the principles of Open Science and international standards for the preservation of scholarly content.

The journal supports a self-archiving policy in accordance with Open Access principles.

Print Archiving

Printed copies of the journal are distributed to leading library institutions of Ukraine, including:

  • Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine
  • Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine
  • National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine
  • major scientific and medical libraries of Ukraine
  • the library of Poltava State Medical University

This ensures reliable long-term preservation of the print version of the journal.

Technical Preservation Measures

To ensure the integrity and accessibility of content, the journal applies:

  • assignment of DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to each article for persistent identification and citation;
  • regular data backups;
  • storage of materials in standardized formats (PDF, HTML, XML);
  • use of metadata exchange protocols (OAI-PMH) for integration with repositories;
  • monitoring of file accessibility and link functionality.

Long-Term Access Guarantees

The journal ensures:

  • permanent open access to all published materials without restrictions;
  • preservation of electronic versions of articles in case of platform updates or technical changes;
  • migration of content to new formats or systems when technologies evolve;
  • preservation of journal archives even in the event of discontinuation of the journal, through transfer to appropriate institutions.

The journal follows Open Access principles and supports the use of Creative Commons licenses (in particular CC BY), allowing free use, distribution, and reproduction of materials with proper attribution.

Author Self-Archiving

Authors are permitted to:

  • deposit the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) and the final published version (Version of Record) in institutional or subject repositories;
  • share and distribute their work without restrictions in accordance with the Open Access license;
  • use published materials for academic and educational purposes with appropriate citation of the original source.
