The issue of forensic medical determination of the severity of injuries often arises in victims with closed trauma of the hyoid-laryngeal complex. Aim of the work is analysis of injuries and their severity in victims with closed blunt trauma of the hyoid-laryngeal complex to establish the possibility of increasing the effectiveness of forensic-medical diagnostics. The material for the work was 78 conclusions (acts) of forensic medical examination, 38 victims, which was carried out on the basis of the department of victims of accused and other persons, the department of commission forensic-medical examinations of the Kharkiv regional bureau of forensic-medical examination, over the last 5 years. An analysis of the available observations of victims with trauma to the hyoid-laryngeal complex was carried out. The mechanism of injury was determined in 20 (52.6%) cases as the impact of blunt solid objects on the neck, in 17 (46.2%) cases as compression of the neck with hands, blunt solid objects or a noose, in 1 (1.3%) case as compression of the neck with hands and the impact of blunt solid objects. based on the materials of the observations of the victims, the severity of injuries to the hyoid-laryngeal complex in forensic terms was determined. Severe bodily injuries were established in 3 (3.9%) examinations, when there was a life-threatening condition for the victim, namely mechanical asphyxia or acute respiratory failure. Moderate bodily injuries were established in 22 (28.2%) examinations in victims mainly with fractures of the laryngeal cartilages. Simple bodily injuries were established in 44 (56.4%) examinations, when there was acute post-traumatic laryngitis and moderate morphological changes in the laryngeal tissues. In 9 (11.5%) examinations, the severity of bodily injuries was not established at all for various reasons. It was established that forensic-medical diagnostics of injuries of the hyoid-laryngeal complex is often based on subjective data. Laryngostroboscopy is not always performed. The dynamics of change, the degree of laryngeal dysfunction, the period of the current and the final result of laryngeal injuries in each specific case are not always taken into account.
