An intern's research work is one component of the internship training. It involves gaining new experience in processing scientific literature, developing the ability to analyze new material, summarize the information received, form clinical thinking, and free expression of thoughts. The article highlights the main aspects of research work in the internship. It also reviews the methodological literature on the organization of work in the internship and considers the types of work recommended by the Academic and Research Institute of Postgraduate Education of Poltava State Medical University. Performing research work in an internship requires a structured approach to the research project. First, the intern should formulate an introduction by conducting a literature search on the topic planned by the supervisor. The introduction should summarize the research project's purpose and objectives and determine the topic's relevance. Research methods should include diagnostic techniques and practical skills following the internship program in the speciality and have clear deadlines for each stage. An important independent stage of research work is the creation of its plan. While studying the literature, the intern should identify existing developments in the field and consider the possibility of developing underrepresented diagnostic or therapeutic methods. The results of the intern's research work should be discussed at scientific and practical conferences. Conference attendees have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the chosen field by listening to the reports presented. Speakers who win prizes at the conference are rewarded with an exemption from the interview at the state certification.
