Annotation:
Anatomical terms with a color component in Latin, English, and Ukrainian have been analyzed and grouped. It has been shown that color, being one of the most universal and accessible cognitive features, has played an important role in the formation of professional knowledge systems and corresponding terminologies, in particular anatomical ones. The main functions of the studied group of anatomical terms are characterized: identification, which consists in a clear and unambiguous differentiation of structures that are close or related in form or location; classification, which allows anatomical structures to be grouped according to common morphological features; orientation, which forms spatial (topographic) maps of the body, which is of great didactic importance; nominative (terminological), which ensures the unification of the semantic meaning of terms in different languages, which is extremely important for medical discourse, where accuracy and unambiguity play a decisive role.
