The article presents a clinically oriented approach to the development of professional competencies among sixth-year medical students studying the elective urological disciplines “Current Issues in Andrology” and “Minimally Invasive Urology”. The main methodological approaches to organizing the educational process aimed at deepening theoretical knowledge, developing clinical reasoning, and preparing future physicians to manage typical clinical situations are considered. The study was based on the analysis of educational and methodological materials for these elective disciplines and the generalization of the authors’ teaching experience at the Department of Surgery No. 1 with Urology and Minimally Invasive Surgery of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The use of clinical cases, situational tasks, diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms, simulation technologies, and interactive teaching methods was analyzed. The complementary nature of the two elective disciplines was demonstrated, providing a consistent framework for the development of clinical and diagnostic, analytical, therapeutic and tactical, practical and procedural, communicative, and interdisciplinary competencies. Andrology training is primarily focused on comprehensive patient assessment, diagnostic decisionmaking, and substantiation of treatment strategies, whereas the study of minimally invasive urology enhances students’ understanding of the possibilities and principles of modern endoscopic, percutaneous, laparoscopic, and other minimally invasive treatment methods. The integration of these educational components contributes to the systematization of acquired knowledge, the development of comprehensive clinical reasoning, and the preparation of future physicians to make well-founded clinical decisions.
