In the modern world, a beautiful smile shapes the image of a successful person, supports their social and emotional state, simplifies relationships between people and, in some cases, is an integral attribute of successful communication. The issue of tooth extraction, in most cases permanent, for orthodontic indications is still relevant. The aim of the study was to analyze the frequency of tooth extraction among patients with orthodontic pathology. Of the patients who underwent orthodontic treatment, 49% (293 patients) were shown tooth extraction, and 51% (305 patients) did not note the need for this operation. Among the patients who were shown treatment with tooth extraction, 42% agreed to this surgical intervention, 48% agreed to a certain postponement, 7% refused tooth ex traction, but continued orthodontic treatment, and 3% refused treatment at all. Among the teeth removed for orthodontic indications, the following were most often removed: first premolars (59% of cases), second upper premolars (13% of cases, mainly due to carious lesions of this tooth), in a single case, the first lower molars were removed, which was due to the presence of chronic periodontitis of one tooth. Orthodontic treatment mainly requires the involvement of not only an orthodontist, but also related specialists, often dental surgeons.
