Annotation:

The article explores the role of independent work as a critical component of the educational process in higher education institutions. One of the key benefits of intensifying independent work, particularly during the full-scale invasion by the aggressor country, is that it fosters the abilities of intern doctors and course attendees in self-development, the creative application of acquired knowledge, and adaptation to their professional roles in the current context. The core principle of organizing independent work for intern doctors is a comprehensive approach aimed at developing skills to replicate creative activities in various settings, including the classroom, out-of-class interactions with educators through distance learning, consultations, and home preparation. The main traditional forms of independent work include preparation for seminars and practical classes, tests, and exams, writing essays, solving case studies and situational tasks, conducting simulations or business games, and participating in research. Independent work encompasses a wide range of activities that promote independent critical thinking, cognitive development, and creative engagement for future professionals. There are two types of independent work in the educational process: classroom and out-of-class ones. Classroom work takes place in the classroom under the direct guidance of the educator and follows specific instructions, while out-of-class work is completed outside the classroom by future professionals without the educators’ direct involvement, though still under their guidance. The goal of independent work for intern doctors and course attendees is to engage meaningfully and independently with educational materials, followed by the work with scientific information that lays the foundation for self-organization, self-education, and fosters the ability to lifelong professional development.
