Annotation:
The basic principles underlying bioethics emphasise the moral dimension of the relationship between doctor and patient. Bioethics, and in particular its fundamental ethical norms expressed in codes of ethics, can become a methodological tool for addressing issues that arise in the practice of nutritionists, sports nutritionists, and nonclinical nutritionists as specialists who also have a direct impact on human life and health. The unresolved issue of regulating ethical principles for specialists in healthy eating and dietary interventions in Ukraine leads to more and more frequent violations. The most common violations of professional ethics occur during direct communication and consultations with patients, as well as in communications within a multidisciplinary team and when advertising their services on social media. To date, the scientific literature does not sufficiently outline the topic of applying the principles of bioethics in the activities of nutritionists, non-clinical nutritionists and nutritionists. In Ukraine, there is still no framework document that would define ethical standards for nutritionists, while the leading countries of the world have such a document, and it operates under professional associations or at the level of specialised institutions. The article synthesises the fundamental international documents regulating the field of nutrition and nonclinical dietetics – codes of bioethics of professional associations of nutritionists and nutritionists. They became the basis for developing a draft ethical professional code of nutritionists in Ukraine. The article emphasises the absence of provisions in the current codes of ethics for nutritionists and non-clinical nutritionists on the use of modern digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence programmes, which raises many ethical issues. Recommendations are made for developing a future Code of Bioethics for Ukrainian nutritionists, considering the international experience and the current realities of the activities of professionals providing healthy nutrition advice.
