The lack of data on craniometric, age and gender characteristics of chewing efficiency of individuals of the Ukrainian ethnic group justifies the relevance of this study. This is especially important for the development of standards for the functional state of the chewing apparatus, planning orthodontic and orthopedic treatment. The chewing pressure on the incisors, canines, premolars and molars was determined using the Fuji Prescale MS program and highly sensitive Fuji film with a pressure range from 10 to 50 MPa in 37 boys and 39 girls with a mesocephalic skull shape, which was determined by the size of the cranial index. A gradual increase in chewing pressure indicators along the dental arch was established: the lowest pressure values were registered in the incisors, the highest in the second molars. It was determined that in mesocephalic girls, chewing efficiency increases from the second incisor to the second molar, with the absence of a significant difference between adjacent teeth, with the exception of molars. In mesocephalic young men, chewing efficiency increases from the first incisor to the second molar in the absence of significant differences between individual teeth. No differences were found between the pressure distribution of the right and left parts of the dental arch, which indicates the symmetry of the functional load. The obtained data are the first normative indicators of maximum chewing pressure for young people of the Ukrainian ethnic group of the Podilsk region with mesocephaly and can be used in clinical practice for objective assessment of the functional state of the chewing apparatus, diagnosis of reduced chewing efficiency, monitoring the results of orthopedic and orthodontic treatment, as well as in the design of dental prostheses taking into account sexual and craniometric characteristics.
