Due to Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, the number of victims with serious injuries, including head injuries, is increasing daily, both among military personnel and civilians. Civilians suffer more dangerous head injuries, which is explained by the lack of reliable protection of this area. Given the current large flow of injured people, the training of future physical therapists should be supplemented with new approaches and methods of the educational process, including a consistent examination of the patient according to the principles of the vital superficial anatomy of the human body. The basic principles of vital surface anatomy when examining the human head area were studied in practical classes with students studying in specialty І7 – “Therapy and Rehabilitation”, specialization І7.01 – “Physical Therapy”. For a quality examination of the head area, students need to pay attention to the bony landmarks of the human skull, the contours of the muscles at rest and during movement in the temporomandibular joint. Consistent manual examination of the head area according to the principles of surface anatomy, based on self-examination and mutual examination by students, allows for the formation of professional practical skills of the future physical therapist.
