Currently, there are a significant number of scientific papers on the etiopathogenetic mechanisms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, but there is a lack of literature reviews that would help systematise the data obtained by scientists from around the world. In this research paper, a review and analysis of scientific sources on obsessive-compulsive disorder was conducted. The paper covers the issue of obsessive-compulsive disorder in the ICD-10 and ICD11 classifications with an interpretation of changes and diagnostic criteria. The article presents a modern view of the leading factors of formation, predictors and personality traits in obsessive-compulsive disorder. The psychodynamic concept is also considered in this work, and the genetic factors of this pathology are analysed. It is shown that various studies have examined the relationship between the etiopathogenesis of obsessive-compulsive disorder and the personality traits of patients, concomitant disorders of the affective-anxiety spectrum, and genetic and biochemical factors. The most comorbid pathology that occurs in obsessive-compulsive disorder is shown. It is proved that the defining clinical component of obsessive-compulsive disorder is anxiety, which can also play the role of a leading factor in the development of the disease. The authors have analysed and systematically presented modern, domestic and foreign literature sources. The article offers a review of the leading hypotheses and concepts of the formation of obsessive-compulsive disorder. It has been established that the problem of studying various aspects of the pathogenesis of obsessive-compulsive disorder is far from being resolved, and a single model of the etiopathogenesis of obsessive-compulsive disorder has not yet been created.
