Repair of the socket of the extracted tooth depends on local factors, the traumatic nature of the operation and the presence of general somatic pathology of the patient. The literature suggests a higher prevalence of periapical lesions in patients with poorly controlled diabetes. A recent clinical study showed that patients with type 2 diabetes were significantly associated with an increased incidence of periapical lesions and endodontic treatment. The aim of the study was to analyze the frequency and course of inflammatory complications after tooth extraction in patients with diabetes mellitus. A clinical examination of 30 patients with inflammatory complications was conducted – namely, acute purulent dry socket of the extracted tooth. Patients were divided into 2 groups: group 1 – patients with acute purulent dry socket of the extracted tooth on the background of diabetes mellitus (10 people); group 2 (control) – patients with acute purulent dry socket of the extracted tooth without concomitant general somatic pathology (20 people). The data presented indicate somewhat delayed clinical manifestations of reparative processes in patients with diabetes, which confirms the literature data and necessitates a comprehensive approach to the treatment of inflammatory complications after tooth extraction in the setting of diabetes, consistent with the literature data.
