Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease in which endometrial cells grow beyond the inner walls of the uterus, causing a chronic inflammatory process. It has a diverse etiology: coelomic metaplasia, stem cell involvement, etc. Diagnostic and treatment methods include the less desirable laparoscopy, MRI, ultrasound, hormonal and physiotherapy. It is currently relevant due to the increase in the number of affected people, while not having updated diagnostic methods and its own biomarkers, which is a big problem. This literature review reviewed fundamental information about the disease and a number of new directions in diagnosis and treatment.
