Actuality. Salivary gland tumors account for 1-5% of all tumors. Despite the relatively small percentage of morbidity issues associated with this pathology, there is a section of Clinical Oncology. Here remain still many unresolved issues. It is not fully clarified etiological factors varied morphogenesis. Most (60-80%) tumors occur in the parotid salivary glands. Thus 80% of them are benign tumors, the most common histological form is pleomorphic adenoma, which in some cases can degenerate into cancer. The main histological forms of malignant tumors of the salivary glands are adenoid cystic carcinoma and mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Salivary gland tumours can show a striking range of morphological diversity between different tumour types and sometimes within an individual tumour mass. In addition, hybrid tumours, dedifferentiation and the propensity for some benign tumours to progress to malignancy can confound histopathological interpretation. A variety nosologies of tumors and non-neoplastic diseases of parotid glands, similar clinic and risk of postoperative complications often pose difficult questions for maxillofacial surgeon. This is especially true of the primary tumor diagnosis, differential diagnosis of its selection and especially the planned method of surgery. All this determines the relevance of the study prevalence of tumors of the salivary glands. The aim of the study: Analyze the prevalence of tumor diseases of the salivary glands in the northern regions of Ukraine. Conclusions: Confirmed the validity of statistics of WHO about the incidence tumors of the salivary glands in the northern regions of Ukraine, found the incidence of this nosology in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, confirmed the influence of ionizing radiation and the overall ecology of the area as the dominant risk factors of tumors of the salivary glands.
