The article presents the results of the examination of adolescent children diagnosed with epilepsy, who were compared with neuroimaging data and evoked potentials. All children were studied with evoked potentials, such as long-latency auditory and visual flash potentials. Patients participating in the study were divided into 4 subgroups according to the effectiveness of treatment and the presence/absence of structural changes on MRI: Subgroup A included children with positive dynamics of latency indicators and without pathological manifestations on MRI (17 people), subgroup B included children with positive dynamics in the study of evoked potentials and with pathological changes detected by MRI (12 people), subgroup C - children with negative dynamics in treatment and no pathology on MRI (11 people) and D - a subgroup with negative dynamics in therapy and pathology on MRI (11 people). A comparison of the groups showed that the most pronounced prolongation of latencies was found in the study of visual evoked potentials to flash in the group with a negative response and the presence of changes on MRI. In addition, it was found that the most statistically significant indicators were obtained in the study of visual evoked potentials to flash, the analysis of long-latency auditory evoked potentials revealed changes, but less pronounced. The electrophysiological study of sensory systems by the method of evoked potentials, especially visual evoked potentials, correlates with structural changes in the brain and can be used to predict the course of the disease and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment in children with epilepsy.
