As of 2023, according to the International Diabetes Federation, there are more than 537 million people with diabetes (more than 6.7% of the global population), of which approximately 98% have type 2 diabetes. This endocrine disease is manifested by changes in various systems and organs, one of which is the digestive system, in particular the oral cavity. Cognitive impairment is recognized as a serious complication of type 2 diabetes. Comprehensive examination and management of patients with diabetes is necessary. First of all, the prevention of this disease is very important to prevent the occurrence of cognitive dysfunction and diseases of the teeth and oral cavity.
