The decline in the population's reproductive potential is an urgent medical problem. The results of experimental and clinical studies indicate that one of the factors contributing to the development of pathologies of the reproductive system is a violation of the conditions of intrauterine development, namely the mother's socio-emotional stress during pregnancy. Under the influence of maternal stress, genetically programmed processes of individual development are modified in the fetus, which can contribute to changes in sexual differentiation of the brain, disruption of the coordinated functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, as well as a decrease in the hormone-producing activity of the gonads in adult offspring. This study aims to determine the morphological and functional features of the reproductive system of adult male offspring born from stressed mothers during the entire pregnancy. The study was conducted on 22 male offspring of 10-month-old nonlinear rats obtained from intact mothers and mothers exposed to socio-emotional stress during pregnancy. The histological structure of the testes was investigated, the levels of sex hormones were determined, and the fertility of 10-month-old male offspring from intact and gestationally stressed females was studied. It was found that prenatally stressed males at the age of 10 months have long-term effects on the reproductive system, which are reflected in: a decrease in the number of tubules with mature spermatozoa, a decrease in activated Leydig cells, a decrease in the number of motile spermatozoa, an increase in the percentage of pathological forms, which together contribute to a decrease in fertility. Violation of the conditions of intrauterine development of offspring caused by socio-emotional stress of mothers during pregnancy leads to destructive changes in the histological structure of the testes, a decrease in spermatogenic function and fertility, which creates prerequisites for a reduction of reproductive capacity in adulthood.
