The study of the state of oral hygiene, acid resistance of enamel was performed on 540 adolescents aged 15 to 18 years who studied at school, college, university in Chernivtsi. An anonymous survey was conducted among them. Modified questionnaire by PA Leusa (2013), contained 11 question – indicators according to the EGOHID system 11. The studied indicators of oral hygiene and acid resistance of enamel along with a conducted survey of patients revealed their attitude to their dental health and identified risk factors for dental caries in them. The results we obtained during the examination of adolescents show that college students at all ages 15 to 18 years have oral hygiene, which is worse than in the other contingent we studied, and do not have a significant difference depending on age. Students take better care of their mouths. In the studied cohort, the state of oral hygiene is satisfactory. Their numbers are better and probably lower than those of college students. The state of oral hygiene among university students aged 17 and 18 is satisfactory, corresponds to the indicators of schoolchildren, and is better than that of adolescents studying in college. Inadequate oral hygiene affects the acid resistance of enamel, and this is especially noticeable in college students, where the average values of the enamel resistance test in all age groups are probably worse than in school and university attenders. In all study groups, the mean corresponded to moderate enamel resistance, but there was a significant difference in numbers. The worst values were found in teenagers in college. 32% of college students, 13% of schoolchildren, and 18% of university students answered that they had not visited a dentist at all during the last year. 11% of teenagers attending college, schoolchildren and university students – 4% and 1% respectively indicated that they brush their teeth only sometimes, A significant number of adolescents (78%) who attend college often consume sugary foods and beverages, and 43% have tried to smoke a cigarette occasionally. The obtained results encourage the strengthening of sanitary-educational work among adolescents, especially those who study in college. The scheme of treatment and prevention measures among the adolescent population is proposed, which includes training in oral hygiene and regular monitoring of its condition, recommendations for a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, the need for regular visits to the dentist for timely treatment of caries and its complications and recommendations for improving the resistance of hard tissues of teeth and periodontal tissues. We studied the indicators of oral hygiene and acid resistance of enamel and conducted a survey of patients to identify their attitudes to their dental health and determine the risk factors for dental caries in them. The cohort of teenagers in college needs the most attention. They are the least demanding of their dental health, which leads to poor oral hygiene, reduced resistance of the hard tissues of the teeth and causes an increase in the intensity of caries. Awareness-raising and prevention measures are the keys to improving the dental health of adolescents.
