Annotation:
The calcaneus is the largest bone in the foot, providing stability, shock absorption, and proper load distribution during movement. It is a complex structure that interacts with other elements of the foot, and its blood supply and innervation make it vulnerable to ischemia and pain syndromes. Calcaneal fractures are among the most complex orthopedic injuries that can seriously disrupt the biomechanics of the foot. The Sanders classification is used to as- sess damage, which helps determine treatment tactics: from conservative treatment for minor injuries to surgical intervention for significant intra-articular fractures. Effective and timely rehabilitation is crucial for the rapid res- toration of foot function and the prevention of complications. A comprehensive approach to diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, based on a deep understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the calcaneus, is crucial for a successful return to a full life for patients. This analytical review is based on domestic and international scientific sources, including articles, books, and monographs. To achieve the set goals, the literature search for the review was conducted on the Internet, as well as in scientometric databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.
