Chemical depilation is a common cosmetic procedure, but at the same time attracts attention from the point of view of transdermal drug delivery and preoperative skin preparation. Due to this, it needs comprehensive research both in the short term and in the long term. In experiments on albino rats, depilation was reproduced using a commercial product based on thioglycolate, and after 3 days, 9 days, and 21 days, morphometric parameters were examined in histological preparations of the skin of the test area, stained with hematoxylin-eosin. It is shown that hair removal causes changes in the count and size of hair follicles, as well as the thickness of the epidermis, the directionality of which depends on the period of observation. The identified structural changes may indicate the development of regenerative processes in the hair follicles and a small inflammatory reaction in the skin at the beginning of the recovery period with their subsequent fading.
