Dental health is one of the most important components of human health. Approximately 85% of people aged 18 to 25, according to WHO, suffer from changes in the oral cavity. The high prevalence of periodontal diseases, carious lesions of hard dental tissues, clinical manifestations, the diversity of their etiological factors, insufficient effectiveness of primary and secondary prevention of diseases in young people (aged 18-25) is today one of the most pressing problems of therapeutic dentistry. The high prevalence attracts the close attention of doctors, becomes the object of clinical research and analysis of index assessment indicators for the further development and improvement of diagnostic, treatment and prevention methods. The aim of this work is to conduct research, which is due to the prevalence and growth of dental diseases in young people. 150 people aged 18 to 27 from different regions of Ukraine were examined over a period of 5 years. To assess the condition of the oral cavity, the indices PMA, OHI-S (Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified), Fedorova-Volodkina were used. The papillary bleeding index (pvi) according to Saxer and Miihlemann, and the WHO recommended CPITN index were also used. After the examination, high prevalence rates of caries of permanent teeth in young people, periodontal tissue diseases were found, which may be due to a combination of risk factors characteristic of this age period (poor oral hygiene, bad habits, orthodontic pathology, uncontrolled consumption of sugar-containing products, stress, etc.). Assessment of the hygienic condition of the oral cavity in patients with GP and periodontal tissue diseases indicates the need to strengthen and improve individual, professional and motivational measures among young people.
