WHO states the spread of panic disorders among the population of the planet, the manifestation of which is stimulated by various stressful events – pandemics, wars, etc. Treatment of disorder is not always effective, often the disorder takes a chronic form. Identifying causes and improving scientific approaches to the study of physiological and biochemical mechanisms of panic disorders can help to discover the best treatments. Purpose of the study: Meta-analysis of scientific literature on modern studies of physiological and biochemical mechanisms of panic disorders. Often panic disorders have common correlates with diseases of different organ systems. There is a lot of experimental evidence of panic and breathing. It is proved that hyperventilation and hypoxia have panicogenic properties. Some pharmacological agents provoke panic. The development of panic disorders is observed in the presence of chemical imbalance in different brain structures: brain stem, hypothalamus, cerebellum and cortex. The cause of respiratory disorders may be dysfunction of homeostatic systems. People with panic disorders have recorded changes in the bioelectric activity of the CNS neurons. In understanding the causes and consequences of panic disorders, biochemical studies that are currently small are important. There is scientific evidence that the potential capacity of CO2 and lactate changes the brain pH, that is, pH chemosensing can be important. Therefore, a picture of panic disorder is a complex result of numerous physiological and biochemical processes in various networks of brain neurons and the main systems of the body.
