FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT OF THE LIVER, GALLBLADDER, AND PANCREAS: THE POTENTIAL OF NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS

Annotation:
The article analyzes current approaches to functional support of the hepatopancreatobiliary system through phytotherapy, health-oriented physical activity, and nutrition. The aim is to summarize existing strategies for functional support of the hepatopancreatobiliary system and assess the potential of phytotherapy, physical activity, and nutrition. A narrative literature review was conducted using scientific databases covering the last two decades. Priority was given to studies on herbal remedies with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and choleretic effects, as well as research on the impact of structured aerobic and functional exercise. Combined interventions have shown efficacy in reducing oxidative stress, improving bile flow, enhancing enzymatic activity, and optimizing metabolic and inflammatory parameters. Positive outcomes have been demonstrated for silymarin, artichoke extract, curcumin, and other phytochemicals within integrative protocols. Regular physical activity contributes to improved lipid metabolism, decreased insulin resistance, and better glycemic control. Nutrition-based interventions, including antioxidant and fiber-rich diets, support detoxification and maintain intestinal-liver balance. Despite promising findings, the field is constrained by the lack of multicenter randomized trials, unified therapeutic algorithms, and standardized assessment tools. Integrative functional support using phytotherapy, exercise, and nutrition demonstrates significant potential in preventing and managing chronic hepatopancreatobiliary disorders. Future directions include the development of digital monitoring tools and a personalized, interdisciplinary model focused on long-term efficacy, safety, and patient-centered outcomes.
