The study aimed to investigate the features of evoked potentials in adolescents with epilepsy. The article presents the material obtained during the study of visual flash and long-latency auditory evoked potentials in adolescents diagnosed with epilepsy. The study was conducted twice - at the beginning of treatment and in the dynamics, and the results were compared with those obtained in practically healthy children (control group). The analysis of the study results indicates no relationship between the dependence of evoked potentials and age. It was found that the structural changes obtained by MRI correlate with the prolongation of latencies. An increase in the number of children with a tendency to normalise auditory long-latency potentials during the examination was recorded in the examination's dynamics on the therapy background. In the course of treatment, two subgroups were distinguished among children with epilepsy, those with a positive and negative response to treatment. In the study of visual evoked potentials to a flash, children with a positive response tended to normalise their values, while those with a negative response significantly exceeded the norm. When studying long-latency auditory evoked potentials, no such dependence was found. The reliability of the results was confirmed by the Mann-Whitney U test. Thus, the method of evoked potentials can be used in children diagnosed with epilepsy to determine the severity of the disease, as well as to assess its course and treatment effectiveness.
