Cardiovascular diseases are the most common, tend to increase, often lead to mortality and disability, and are a significant medical and social problem and the heart and blood vessels are still studied by morphologists and clinicians. The planimetric and volumetric parameters of the left and right ventricles and atria of 30 six-month-old male laboratory white rats and 30 similar animals aged 24 months were studied. Planimetry (area measurement) of the left and right ventricles' endocardial surface and left and right atria was performed. The planimetric and planimetric atrial index, left and right ventricular inflow, outflow and reserve volumes were determined. Quantitative morphological parameters were processed statistically. It was found that with age, the heart chambers unevenly disproportionately expanded, which was confirmed by an increase in the area of their endocardial surfaces. The unevenness and disproportionality of age-related expansion of the heart chambers was confirmed by changes in planimetric indices and atrial planimetric indices. Volumetric measurements revealed an age-related increase in the inflow and outflow volumes of the left and right ventricles and a decrease in their reserve volumes. In the left ventricle of 24-month-old white male rats, the reserve volume was reduced by 6.4% (p<0.001), in the right ventricle - by 4.1% (p<0.05). The studies and the results obtained indicate that with age, there is an uneven, disproportionate increase in the areas of the endocardial surfaces of the heart parts, as evidenced by changes in the planimetric index and the atrial planimetric index. The age-related increase in the supply and output and decrease in the reserve volumes of the ventricles were established. The most pronounced age-related decrease in reserve volume was found in the left ventricle.
