The high prevalence of functional gastrointestinal disorders in children (19-40%) significantly reduces their quality of life due to the complex pathophysiology conceptualized in the biopsychosocial model with the interaction of visceral hypersensitivity, psychoemotional disorders (e.g., anxiety), and social factors. In Ukraine, the relevance of functional gastrointestinal disorders is exacerbated by the ongoing military conflict, which is confirmed by the high prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (44%) and the increase in psychosomatic disorders in children, deter- mining the key role of multidimensional assessment of quality of life to identify problem areas. The aim is to assess the quality of life in children with functional gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by abdominal pain under martial law. The study included 176 children aged 6-17 years with functional gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by abdominal pain (main group). The control group consisted of 30 practically healthy children of the appropriate age. The Ukrainian version of the international standardized questionnaire Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ (PedsQL™) 4.0 was used to assess the quality of life. The following indicators were analyzed in all study participants: total quality of life score, total scores of physical and psychosocial health. Significantly lower total scores of physical health, psychosocial health and total quality of life were found in children with functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome compared to the control group (p < 0.05). A negative strong rank correlation was found between all analyzed quality of life indicators and the intensity of abdominal pain (assessed by a visual analog scale), as well as the level of anxiety (determined using the children's version of the SCARED-C scale (Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders, Child Version)). Research on quality of life is an important component of a comprehensive assessment of the condition of children with functional gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by abdominal pain. This methodology is of particular importance in conditions of martial law, since it allows you to determine the degree of impact of the pathology on social adaptation, academic performance and educational functioning of the child.
